אנו שמחים לבשר כי האגוד הבינלאומי למדעי הרדיו - URSI הודיע על הענקת מדלית הזהב Balthasar van der Pol Gold Medal לפרופ' אהוד הימן, דקאן הפקולטה:

"For developing mathematical tools to analyze the generation, propagation and scattering of beam-shaped electromagnetic fields,

and their engineering applications".

הפרס יוענק במושב הקרוב של URSI ב-14 באוגוסט 2011, באיסטנבול.

הגדרת הפרס:

The Balthasar van der Pol Gold Medal is awarded once every three years during the General Assembly URSI (Union Radio Scientifique Internationale),

which is a non-governmental organization operating under the International Council of Science Academies (ICSU).

It is awarded to outstanding scientists whose achievements in any of the branches of science covered by URSI have been particularly valuable.

The award is for career achievements of the candidate with evidence of significant contributions within the most recent six-year period.
