ברכות חמות לפרופ' נועם אליעז לרגל קבלת פרס Uhlig היוקרתי של NACE - האגודה הבין לאומית לקורוזיה. פרטים נוספים על הפרס מופיעים באתר הפרסים של NACE
Professor Noam Eliaz has been selected as the 2010 recipient of the prestigious Herbert H. Uhlig Award of NACE International, which is awarded to a young university lecturer in the field of corrosion who inspires his students through outstanding and innovative instruction. Professor Eliaz is the first Israeli to receive an NACE award, and is joining a prestigious list of former award recipients, among them some of the world’s foremost corrosion scientists. He will receive his award on March 17, 2010, during the NACE International CORROSION 2010 Conference and Expo, in San Antonio, Texas, US.
NACE International is the world’s largest organization committed to protecting people, assets and the environment from the impact of corrosion, comprising over 22,000 members in more than 110 countries. |

Dear members of the Faculty of Engineering
I am happy to report to you about a successful event of the American Friends of Tel Aviv University (AFTAU), with more than 200 participants, that took place in NYC on October 27 2009. The event focused on Israeli Innovation in Medical Engineering, and the keynote speakers were Mr Chemi Peres (an alumnus of the faculty), Mr Peter Kesh (an biomedical venture capitalist and an internationally acclaimed inspirational lecturer), and Professor Shmuel Einav. Congrats to Prof. Mickey Scheinowitz from the Department of Biomedical Engineering for his recent nomination as a member of the World Health Organization-European Network for the Promotion of Physical Activity. Mickey is the only Israeli member/ representative in the WHO-European Network.

Congratulations to:
Prof Anthony Weiss and his former PhD student Ori Shental for winning the *2008 Best Student Paper Award in the area of Signal Processing and Coding for Data Storage*. This is an annual award announced by the Signal Processing for Storage Technical Committee of the IEEE Communications Society.
The award will be given at the DSTC meeting at IEEE GLOBECOM in Hawaii, November 2009.
