DAGLS: A DAG based Location Service for large ad-hoc networks
MANET (Mobile Ad-Hoc networks) is a self-configuring infrastructure-less network of mobile devices connected by transit wireless links created between adjacent devices. MANET networks could be used in situations where no wireless infrastructure is present, such as rescue forces operating in areas struck by natural disasters, ad-hoc mass event taking place in rural locations or military forces operation in an unfriendly territory. It could also be used to enable continues Internet services for users walking or driving around in urban areas, without using the highly expensive cellular infrastructure.
While the problem of routing in MANET has been well studied and several schemes have been proposed to address this issue, few scheme tried to address the problem of location service in MANET and even fewer addressed this issue in large networks consisting of more than a few hundred nodes.
We present a Location Server based on Hierarchical DAG structure (DAGLS) designed to work well on large networks.
DAGLS message complexity is proportional to the distance traversed by nodes, and data load is evenly divided between all nodes. | | Location Room 011, Kitot Build. | | |
