Professor Nathan Croitoru received his B.Sc.. M.Sc. degree at
the University of Bucharest, Romania, in 1953 and his Ph.D. at the Institute
of Physics at the Romanian Academy of Bucharest, in 1961. Prior to his
immigration to Israel, he worked at the Institute of Physics, Bucharest
a Senior Researcher and Chairman of the Laboratory of Amorphous and Crystalline
Semiconductors. During 1971-1972, he received a Humboldt grant and worked
as an invited scientist at the Marburg University, West Germany. His main
fields of research were: Electron Microscopy and Thin Films; Amorphous
Ge, Si and Chalcogenides; Infrared Detectors (InSb); Integrated Circuits'
and Secondary Emission. From 1976 on, he worked at Tel-Aviv University,
Faculty of Engineering, Dept. of Electrical Engineering - Physical Electronics.
During the semester October 1981 - March 1982, he was Visiting Scientist
at the Ruhr University, Bochum, West Germanmy (half year of sabbatical
leave). From October 1990 - March 1991, he was at Drexel University,
Philadelphia, USA on a Stein Grant, and from April 1991 - October 1992
he was Invited Professor on the DFG Grant at the University of Hamburg.
In October 1989 he received an Award from Ben-Gurion University of the
Negev, Beer-Sheva, for research in Applied Electronics.
Has received more than 30 important research grants and 10 patents in the field of thin films application and optical waveguides
