Abstract

A domestic microwave oven operating at 2450 MHz is used to study the microwave processing of the aggregate used in making concrete. The objective of the processing is to reduce an undesirable element in the mixture, in this case shale, to a size where it may be readily removed. The results indicate that this method holds promise, but that higher power levels are needed.
