Abstract

The total attenuation caused by a wet textile or paper surface inserted in a waveguide structure expresses the amount of power that can be absorbed. Attenuation measurements at 9 GHz in R 100 (W.R. 90) waveguide for varying concentrations of water and liquid ammonia in different types and thicknesses of textile materials show that, for wetnesses of 70% by weight, the loss for water is approximately 1 to 2 dB/ cm²  while that for ammonia is about 0.4 to 0.8 dB/cm²
