Abstract

Preliminary investigations of utilizing microwave energy at 2450 MHz to achieve high temperatures in two chemical processes have been conducted.  The chemical reactions were the production of hydrogen cyanide from ammonia and carbon, and the direct disassociation of molybdenum disulphide.  Data on cavity design, temperatures achieved, and product yields are presented.
