Abstract

The advantages of ferrite isolators in microwave power systems are discussed, and it is argued that such devices lead to considerably prolonged microwave tube life by reducing system mismatch to acceptably low levels. Several different forms of isolator are described, and the design of a commercially available isolator operating at 2450 MHz is presented. This isolator is capable of handling 6 kW into a full short circuit of any phase.
