Abstract

Theoretical calculations for a resonant cavity loaded with a lossy liquid contained in a glass tube were made. Dielectric losses were introduced in calculations which give theoretical variations of the resonance frequency and the Q factor with the sample and the container characteristics. Application to the case of a liquid sample whose tanδ varies from confirms that the influence of the imaginary part of the permittivity  on the measurement of real part  is smaller than 1%
