Abstract

The purpose of this present work is to construct a microwave induction motor so that microwave energy can be directly converted to mechanical energy.  The properties of a ferrite filled waveguide were studied for different values of applied d.c. magnetic bias for evaluation as a medium to produce mechanical force by microwaves.  Under certain conditions it was found both by theory and experiment that the application of d.c. magnetic fields perpendicular to the E transverse direction (“vertical”).  It was found that by adjusting the applied d.c. magnetic field and the operating frequency, the effect of ferrite can be completely eliminated.  Finally, for the first time, an equation for torque has been developed for microwave rotary machines.
