Abstract

The mode skip of a magnetron under heavy load conditions can be reduced by connecting the load through a long line, since the external Q of the magnetron at the sink region is increased by frequency jumping. In this paper the dependence of the external Q-factor on the load VSWR, the coupling factor represented by the pulling figure and the line length is shown in the form of a diagram. Using the diagram, design criteria of stable RF heating apparatus and the suitable magnetron can be determined.
