Abstract

The authors have developed a new power control method, in which a high-voltage switch is used, and the output power is controlled by changing the interval of half-wave current flow time in the secondary circuit of the transformer. The switch is actuated at zero-current (intermittent of had wave current) by a controller and a phase-control device. With this method, there is no rush current, no electric arc and little magnetron filament temperature change, which results in the increased life of the magnetron.
