Abstract

An anisotropic sample, placed in a square resonant cavity operating at microwave frequencies, induces a coupling between two originally degenerate and mutually independent modes. This effect can be successfully used for the measurement of dielectric or magnetic anisotropy. Results of experiments carried out with samples simulating strong or weak anisotropy are presented.
