Abstract

Application of microwave attenuation meter operating at 9.4 GHz for continuous on-line monitoring of moisture content in low,-hydrated /6 - 14 %  materials of organic origin - such as sugar beet pulp, potato chips, chicory slides - at the outlet of drier is presented. The measurement is carried out while the medium is flowing through a metal container housing radiating horn antennas. The measurement accuracy was ± 0.4 % . The meter provides an effective control of a drier in an industrial plant. Observations gained during the project which may be applied for other materials are discussed.
