Abstract Leakage from microwave oven doors of different design is compared by a new method. Ovens were tested with no choke, an untuned choke, and a tuned choke of the Amana oven. The need for a tuned choke for Bureau of Radiological Health label exemption is presented. Choke resonance characteristics are discussed.
