Abstract This paper concerns a
theoretical study of using the sheath helix slow-wave structure, surrounded
by a conducting tube, as an applicator in microwave heating systems of
dielectric filamentary materials. Analysis is made, in detail, for wave
propagation through this structure. Variations of attenuation coefficient and
specific power absorption, due to dielectric polarization, with applicator
geometry, are investigated. Numerical example is given comparing heating
efficiency of sheath helix applicator and that of travelling-wave circular
waveguide applicator. |
