Abstract The authors have studied the
drying of cellulose particles under microwave irradiation. They consider the
drying rate, temperature and complex permittivity of cellulose under various
experimental conditions. A simple model is proposed, based on a first order
kinetics law, the rate constant of which depends linearly on the square of
the applied electric field. They suggest that water is directly removed from
the surface of cellulose by an electromagnetic field independently of the
temperature. |
