Abstract The design and evaluation of a new class of focussed electromagnetic hyperthermia applicators to increase penetration depth and improve control over the radiated field pattern is presented. Unlike currently available RF and microwave applicators, this new troughguide applicator provides a continuous aperture distribution with built-in deposited power monitoring.
