Abstract

The dielectric heating of slabs of homogeneous material, by means of two parallel plate electrodes or staggered rod electrodes, is investigated. The text discusses the application of the finite elements method in a two dimensional system for the calculation of potential and power distribution, and of transient temperature distribution during the dielectric heating of a material with temperature dependent dielectric properties. The results are compared with the temperature distribution obtained in real heating. The software is written in FORTRAN 77 and can run on a Personal Computer.
