Abstract

This article refers to a student case study on providing additional drying capacity to an existing steam-heated dryer for the manufacture of fluting medium: a constituent of corrugated paper. This article is presented in a form which is readily usable to lecturers, but model comments have been added in italics, which normally will be left to the students to complete. The term students includes not only undergraduates, but also industrial energy managers as well as designers of industrial equipment.
