Abstract

A study was made of a 300-kW radio-frequency (RF) oven for redrying wood veneer in a plywood operation.  The RF oven was capable of redrying bundles of veneer (each measuring about 135 x 257 x 70cm) at a rate of three to four per hour with average power consumption of 1165 kW h per bundle.  The study identified optimum operating conditions for output and cost savings.  Plant production was increased by 25% as a result of installing the RF oven.
