Abstract

The dielectric properties of ten pulverized and purified oven dried minerals were measured at 24°C at frequencies of 1, 2.45, 5.5, 11.7, and 22 GHz at five or six different bulk densities of the particulate materials. The dielectric properties of the solid minerals were calculated from a well-established dielectric mixture equation. Tabulated values for the dielectric constant and loss factor are presented for each of the pulverized materials at five bulk densities and at the density of the solid materials. Particle size and chemical analyses are included for six silicates: amphibole, chlorite, feldspar, two micas, and pyroxene and for four metal oxides: goethite, hematite, ilmenite, and manganese oxide.
