Abstract Laboratory-scale experiments have been performed on microwave heating and drying of hardwood veneer under controlled conditions, and an integral drying model has been used to simulate the existing veneer dryer and the drying operation with dielectric heating. Process parameters and the cost of using dielectric heating in the drying operation have been estimated and compared with those of a conventional dryer. Key
