Abstract

Microwave heating is most effective for the solidification of ashes containing radioisotopes or radioactive materials.  The volume reduction rate is more than 90 percent by this method.  Several practical designs of microwave melting applicators are shown and an improved continuous-melting furnace is introduced along with experimental results.
