Abstract A system has been developed, based
on the cavity frequency shift technique, for doing rapid scoping measurements
of the complex permittivity and scalar permeability from 50 to 2450 MHz and
from -160oC to + 1400oC. The measurement system,
including multimode rf cavities, is described, and
some measurements on a selection of materials are presented to demonstrate
the use of the system. Key
