Abstract Convenient analytic expressions for electromagnetic fields inside dielectric objects perturbing a cavity exist only for ellipsoids of rotation. A newly developed code, SEAFISH, was used to calculate sample shape correction factors for cavity perturbation analysis using cylindrical samples with different aspect ratios and complex dielectric constants.
