Abstract

The design of a cylindrical cavity applicator is described.  The unit is evaluated for applications in chemical laboratories.  Temperature monitoring and control is achieved through the use of a thermocouple and computer software.  The applicator is useful for heating relatively large laboratory samples of a few hundred millimetres.  Other advantages include the ability to agitate the material and add to and remove liquids from the reactor through access ports without having to open to reactor.
