Abstract Residential or
occupational exposures to electric magnetic fields have been reported to be
associated with health problems, particularly cancer and reproductive
mishaps. Misconceptions about these
alleged effects continue to be published in the medical and scientific
literature. Invalid statements
relating to these effects are challenged in this paper. Case reports and studies dealing with
exposures to video display terminals, magnetic resonance imaging, microwaves
from television transmitter facilities, ceiling cable electric heat,
electromagnetic pulse, power lines, traffic radar units, and other
occupational exposures are analyzed. Key Words: Electromagnetic fields, Non-ionizing
radiation, Magnetic fields. |
