Abstract

A new vector voltmeter concept for microwave reflection measurements is presented. It allows precise online determination of the reflection coefficient for continuous-wave (CW) and pulsed signals in microwave heating facilities. All components-including the directional coupler-can be integrated on printed circuits. In the setup developed, the incident and reflected wave are separated with a hybrid coupler. Two following mixer stages convert the signals from 2.45 GHz to 455 kHz, where amplitude and phase detection are carried out with integrated circuits. After data transfer to a computer the accuracy is improved by means of an error model.
