Abstract

This paper presents a finite element time domain (FETD) method for the solution of Maxwell's Equations in a multimode applicator: Edge elements are used for the discretization. The FETD method allows information at a range of frequencies to be obtained from a single calculation. Results, obtained for both low loss materials and high loss foodlike materials are compared with experimental data. Some of the problems of analysis that occur during modeling of multimode applicators are discussed.
