Abstract

This paper presents a comparative study of the transmission media for microwave level gauging systems used for measuring the liquid level in storage tanks. Two types of new transmission media for this application, namely the dielectric rod and the Goubau guide, are proposed. The advantages and limitations of various media, including free space and metallic waveguides, are summarized and compared in performance with the proposed method.
