Abstract A graphical view of modes in an empty rectangular microwave cavity through finite element modelling are presented. This leads to perspectives on cross-coupling in multiple feed cavities. The construction of a cavity and the positioning of feeds for reduced cross-coupling, through an understanding of magnetic and electric field distributions, is discussed. The limitation of the present analysis is that it applies to an empty cavity; however, useful insights can be derived. Key Words: Multiple-feed cavity, modelling, cavity modes, cross-coupling.
