Abstract

A coaxial metal cavity reactor filled with air has been operated simultaneously with dc corona discharge and pulsed microwaves.  The aim of this work is to investigate the possibility of increasing the efficiency of corona reactors utilized for the removal of pollutant oxides SO2 and NOx from the gaseous emissions of fossil fuel power plants. Details of the design and the construction of the reactor, and records of the signals obtained by monitoring the light emitted by the gas as a function of various physical parameters are reported.
