Abstract A procedure for approximate
determination of the resonant frequencies in microwave cylindrical cavities
with rectangular, circular and elliptical cross-section, loaded by a
dielectric slab placed at the bottom of the cavity, is presented in this
paper. The suggested approach is numerically very simple and has satisfactory
accuracy for a number of practical applications in the field of the microwave
applicators design. This procedure can be used for the mode identification
