Abstract

To measure mean complex dielectric constants of heterogeneous materials with high dielectric losses (like emulsions or granular materials), partially filled TEO11 cavities with a time consuming calibration procedure have been used [Persch, 1997], [Risman, 1971], since no suitable theory could be found in literature. In this work, an analytical solution is derived and tested by experiments and numerical results, showing a quantitative agreement, thus making calibration procedures for the measurement of dielectric properties in TE011 resonators unnecessary.
