Abstract Knowledge of the frequency-phase constant diagram of the mode and the hybrid mode in circular circumferentially corrugated waveguide enable curvature mode conversion losses to be determined. Theoretical and experimental curves are given for the frequency-phase constant diagrams. For a given bend, mode conversion to the hybrid mode is virtually eliminated. Bandwidth and mode conversion loss are then determined by coupling to the hybrid mode.
