Abstract

While microwave energy equipment may well involve substantial capital investment and running expense increases over more conventional heat transfer equipments, the advantages in resulting flatter temperature profiles in the work, in speed, in efficiency, in quenchability and focusability can overcome these disadvantages dramatically depending on the application. These tradeoffs are studied quantitatively to result in an optimistic prognosis for this business.
