Abstract

The very great consumer success of domestic microwave ovens in Japan is due to low cost, efficient design and compatibility with the Japanese cuisine and lifestyle. By the end of 1973 there will be approximately 750,000 microwave ovens in homes throughout Japan: approximately 10% saturation. Among the oven design features described are two stage power output, IR browning elements, special cooking utensils and defrosting timers.
