Abstract

A new method is described for the determination of the radius of a  cavity for the heat treatment of cylindrical samples of known dielectric properties. The design of such a cavity and its coupling aperture to treat a thin column of water loaded in the cavity's axis also presented. The utilization efficiency of the microwave power and the electric field strength developed in the water are obtained from calorimetric measurements of the dissipated power performed during heating experiments.
