Abstract This paper reports the results of an investigation to determine the optimum combinations of microwave power level and exposure duration required for germination enhancement of various tree seeds common in eastern Canada. Improved exposure methods are used which allow the determination of electric field at the seed sample. A microwave technique for measuring very low moisture contents (3% to 10%) of tree seeds also is described.
