Abstract

This investigation was designed to explore the effects of microwaves on the adenosine triphosphate levels of liver hepatocytes. Chinese hamster littermates were irradiated with 2450 MHz microwave radiation at a power density of 50 mW/cm² for 30 minutes to 4.5 hours over a period of 1 to 21 days. The animals were sacrificed immediately after the last exposure. Adenosine triphosphate levels per gram weight of tissue were measured by using luciferin firefly extract. It was found that, under these conditions, there was no significant difference between control and experimental animals, when littermates were used in each of the above groups.
