Abstract

A new 50-kW klystron amplifier, specifically designed for ISM applications, is described. Conceived to meet the need for higher levels of CW microwave power in numerous applications, while avoiding certain problems associated with the use of a large number of magnetrons in parallel, this tube has been designed using a computer to aid in determining the optimum values of the different design parameters. One of its most interesting features is the unusual resonant-cavity spacing. The other tube features are dealt with, and typical performance characteristics are presented.
