Abstract

Fuel moisture has a strong influence on fires in the wildlands, and it is desirable to have a quick accurate field method of determining it. Microwave drying of fuel samples provides such a capability. From 3.2 to 4.5 percent of the moisture is left in the samples as compared to xylene distillation methods
