ON FEMTO- AND ATTO-SECOND LASER PULSE POLYMER ABLATION.

ABSTRACT



Estimations pertaining to the few-fs and atto-second (as) laser pulse polymer photo-ablation are obtained and applied to the polytetrafluoroethylene photo-ablation by intense few-fs and as laser pulses. In particular, it was shown that the fluence threshold in the case of few-fs and as pulses is expected to be lower than in the case of longer, e. g., 300 fs pulses. Three possible mechanisms of few-fs and as laser pulses polymer ablation and possibilities of the experimental discrimination between them are discussed. Special consideration was given to the role of the time-energy uncertainty principle which in the case of few-fs and especially as laser pulses must be taken into account when the molecule decay is considered. This uncertainty influences also the kinetics of processes occurring in the irradiated region during the pulse and even long after the laser pulse termination because the initial conditions for the distributions with respect to the energy (e. g., rotational and vibration levels' populations) at the end of the pulse are principally determined only

within this uncertainty.


 
CHAINS OF RELATIONS AND INFORMATION PROCESSING.

ABSTRACT



The purpose of the present paper is to formulate a general mathematical method of the information processing that could be applied to wide spectrum of systems of different nature. Binary relations between different non-empty non-intersected subsets of a subset of a given ordered set A are considered. Chains of such relations defined on different subsets of the set A are constructed. It is shown that they can be transformed into information processors, turning thereby the set A into an information processing system. This transformation of a chain of relations into an information processor uses the homomorphisme between each relation and a subset of a well-ordered set H, playing the role of the time. The time axis can be used as the set H, if the time exists in the considered system. The general definition using the set H allows one to define different types of the time, for example, circadian clock a. o. kinds of time in biological systems. The information processing by the considered information processors can be made without as well as with some kind of logical rules. The use of a language (natural or formal) is not needed, however, language can be constructed from relations and used in the information processing, if necessary. The translation of an information, e. g., output, expressed in terms of chains of relations into a language is accompanied by an inevitable loss of the information.

ABSTRACT





Two different types of the memory were constructed in a system processing the information by activated chains of relations (information processors) introduced in our previous work. The properties of memories of the first and second types make them relevant to be used as short term and long term memories correspondingly.

ABSTRACT



It is shown that intersections (in the set theoretical meaning) of activated chains of relations (information processors) allows one 1) to obtain information on them as well as on the information carried by them, and 2) to forward the information from a certain source to activated chains of relations. Owing to these facts, the phenomenon of the ACRs intersection can be used with the purposes to measure and to govern the information processing. It is important, in particular, for the elucidation of the mechanism of conscious thinking that can be defined as the awareness of a person of its own thinking processes and the ability to govern them (we consider the thinking as a kind of the information processing).
